Another Book Club Book

Dinner with Anna Karenina by Gloria Goldreich

Five Manhattan friends share their love of reading and books as well as their private lives in this book--another novel about a book club.

Except for the cover and some of the book discussions in this novel, I wasn't all that impressed. You spend much of the time trying to figure out why one of the characters has separated from her husband--and the answer isn't all that convincing. The characters don't seem to like each other all that much and there's a lot of envy going on between them. But back to the cover, it's worth it to have this book sitting on your bedstand, it's a totally engaging cover.

I really love the cover. Interesting to say the least!

It is a lovely cover. Even though I'm not artistic, two things I'd love to design, book covers and wine labels.

OK. Now that I've read your take on it, the one chick did seem pretty uncharacteristically histrionic when it came to her reason for ditching her husband. Here's this chick that has it all together, and then she wigs out. Hmmm.
